PM Shehbaz Arrives Quetta to Review Security

QUETTA: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Quetta on Thursday for a one-day visit, where he will chair a high-level meeting to review the overall law and order situation in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province.

During the visit, the prime minister will chair meeting of the Provincial Apex Committee, provincial-military forums established under the National Action Plan (NAP) to coordinate counter-terrorism efforts and maintain internal security. Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir will also co-chair the meeting.

He will receive detailed briefings on the province’s security situation, ongoing measures to maintain peace and stability, and the government’s future strategy to address security challenges.

Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, and senior civil and military officials received the prime minister upon his arrival.

Sharif was accompanied by Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs Rana Sanaullah.

The high-level meeting will bring together federal and provincial officials, as well as senior civil and military leadership, to assess the overall security environment in Balochistan.

Participants are also expected to review ongoing efforts to strengthen law and order and discuss additional measures to address the province’s security challenges.
