Pakistan Name Three Uncapped Players in ODI Squad for Australia Series

LAHORE: Left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi will continue to lead Pakistan’s ODI side after selectors named a 16-member squad for the three-match home series against Australia men’s national cricket team starting on May 30. Pakistan have included three uncapped players in the ODI squad while also recalled Babar Azam for the series.

Pakistan will host Australia in Rawalpindi and Lahore from May 30 to June 4.

Aggressive batters Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub were not considered because of injuries. Both players will continue rehabilitation under the supervision of the Pakistan Cricket Board medical panel.

Uncapped trio Ahmed Daniyal, Arafat Minhas and Rohail Nazir earned places in the ODI squad for the first time.

Pakistan also recalled Babar Azam, Naseem Shah, Shadab Khan and Sufyan Moqim, who missed the ODI tour of Bangladesh in March.

Muhammad Ghazi Ghori and Rohail Nazir were named as wicketkeeper-batters after Usman Khan was ruled out because of illness.

The squad will assemble in Islamabad on Friday and begin training on May 23.

Australia’s squad will arrive in Islamabad on May 23 and train at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium ahead of the series.

Pakistan squad: Shaheen Shah Afridi (captain), Salman Ali Agha (vice-captain), Abdul Samad, Abrar Ahmed, Ahmed Daniyal, Arafat Minhas, Babar Azam, Haris Rauf, Maaz Sadaqat, Muhammad Ghazi Ghori, Naseem Shah, Rohail Nazir, Sahibzada Farhan, Shadab Khan, Shamyl Hussain and Sufyan Moqim.
