ISLAMABAD: The Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment has issued a set of guidelines for Pakistanis living and working in Saudi Arabia, advising them to follow local laws, protect their employment rights and take necessary precautions to avoid difficulties during their stay.
The guidelines cover residence documentation, workplace safety, financial records, employment contracts, money transfers and conduct in public places.
The Bureau has advised Pakistani workers to carry their Iqama, or Saudi residence permit, with them at all times and ensure that it is renewed before its expiry. Workers have also been urged to use the required safety equipment at their workplaces and follow relevant safety procedures.
Maintaining valid documentation can help workers avoid unnecessary complications during their stay and ensure that their employment and residency records remain in order.
Pakistani employees have been advised to maintain copies of their monthly salary slips and bank statements. They should also keep track of their end-of-service benefits, commonly known as gratuity, to maintain a clear record of their employment-related financial entitlements.
The guidelines further recommend that workers retain a copy of their employment contract and understand the terms and conditions agreed upon with their employer.
The Bureau has urged Pakistanis in Saudi Arabia to send money to their families in Pakistan only through official and authorized channels.
Workers have also been encouraged to save a portion of their monthly income as an emergency fund. Such financial planning can provide support in case of unexpected expenses, employment-related issues or other emergencies.
Complete Exit Procedures Before Leaving Saudi Arabia
Pakistani workers planning to leave Saudi Arabia have been advised to ensure that all required exit-clearance procedures are completed before departure.
The Bureau has also encouraged citizens to remain aware of the administrative requirements applicable to their employment and residency status.
The guidelines stress the importance of respecting Saudi Arabia’s local laws, customs and religious practices. Pakistanis have been advised to dress modestly in public places and show appropriate respect when visiting religious sites.
Citizens have also been advised to save the emergency contact number of the Pakistani embassy or consulate in Saudi Arabia so they can seek assistance when necessary.
