NEW YORK : Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has stated that more than 25 terrorist organizations are currently operating from Afghan soil, warning that eliminating extremist networks requires a unified global effort.

Naqvi made the remarks during a meeting with his Russian counterpart on the sidelines of a UN General Assembly session in New York. The two officials discussed the regional security situation, bilateral cooperation, and a joint strategy to counter terrorist networks based in Afghanistan.

“More than 25 terrorist organizations are active in Afghanistan,” Naqvi told his Russian counterpart. “Eliminating extremist organizations is a shared responsibility of all nations in the region and beyond.”

The interior minister also held a separate meeting with China’s public security minister, where the two sides emphasized the need to enhance cooperation in border management, curbing illegal immigration, and combating drug trafficking.

During the China meeting, Naqvi underscored Pakistan’s commitment to securing Chinese nationals working on various projects in the country. “There is a need to stop the funding of terrorists at all levels,” he said. “We want to further advance security cooperation with China. A special protection police force has been established in Pakistan to protect Chinese citizens.”

Both meetings highlight Pakistan’s growing diplomatic push to rally international support against cross-border terrorism emanating from neighboring Afghanistan.
