ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s security forces killed up to 17 militants belonged to Fitna al Hindustan during an intelligence-based clearance operation in the Khadkucha sub-sector of southwestern Balochistan, security officials said on Saturday.
The operation targeted suspected militant hideouts under Operation Al Azam today where 15 to 17 militants were also wounded during the operation. Security forces also arrested eight suspects.
Troops seized a cache of weapons and ammunition. They also confiscated six motorcycles allegedly used by the militants.
Security forces destroyed one motorcycle and two militant hideouts during the operation, officials said.
The military said troops used coordinated blockades and ambushes to disrupt militant movement and dismantle their operational infrastructure.
Officials described the operation as a significant setback for India-backed militant networks operating in the province.
Pakistan has intensified intelligence-based operations in recent months as security forces continue to target militant groups in Balochistan and other parts of the country.
The military reiterated its commitment to continuing counterterrorism operations, saying it would pursue militants and their facilitators until lasting peace is restored.
Earlier this week, Pakistan launched a comprehensive counterterrorism campaign, Operation Al Azam in Balochistan after the province witnessed a surge in militant attacks, which share a border with Afghanistan where the BLA and TTP leaders have found sanctuary.
