LAHORE: Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam has confirmed his commitment to leading the national side with greater maturity, improved planning, and a positive mindset.
Babar stated that one of his primary responsibilities as captain is to provide unwavering support to all players, particularly young cricketers.
He explained that regular communication with emerging players helps reduce pressure and boosts their confidence, allowing them to perform freely and showcase their abilities at the highest level.
Babar stressed that discipline, fitness, and consistent performance remain the three pillars of Pakistan’s cricketing philosophy.
He made it clear that there would be no compromise on these standards as the team prepares for future international assignments.
The Pakistan skipper also praised the recently held red-ball training camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), describing it as a crucial part of the team’s preparations.
He said training under challenging conditions helps players become mentally and physically stronger. According to Babar, the camp focused not only on improving technical skills but also on preparing players to handle the pressure of competitive match situations.
In this sense, Babar acknowledged that the series would present a tough challenge. However, he expressed confidence in the team’s preparations and hoped the players would deliver their best performances.
He also noted that the experience gained by several players in county cricket would prove beneficial during the tour.
Babar said he always adapts his game according to the team’s requirements. He explained that he is prepared to play aggressively when the situation demands while also adopting a defensive approach whenever necessary.
The captain further stated that he welcomes constructive criticism and believes useful advice contributes to a player’s continuous improvement.
