DHAKA: Bangladesh’s veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim has achieved another major milestone in international cricket by surpassing former Pakistan captain Imran Khan in the list of Asia’s longest-serving Test cricketers.

The experienced wicketkeeper-batter reached the landmark after appearing in the ongoing Test match against Pakistan national cricket team at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

In this regard, Mushfiqur Rahim’s Test career now spans 20 years and 351 days, making him the second Asian player with the longest Test career. Imran Khan, whose Test career lasted 20 years and 218 days, has now moved to third position among Asian cricketers in this prestigious category.

Former Indian captain Sachin Tendulkar continues to hold the top position with a remarkable Test career lasting 24 years and one day. Tendulkar remains one of the most celebrated figures in the history of international cricket due to his consistency, longevity and record-breaking achievements.

In this regard, Mushfiqur Rahim’s latest achievement further strengthens his legacy as one of Bangladesh’s finest cricketers. He is also the only Bangladeshi player to have represented his country in 100 Test matches, a milestone that reflects his experience, commitment and long-standing contribution to Bangladesh cricket.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh produced a strong batting performance in the first innings of the ongoing Test against Pakistan, posting a big total before being bowled out. The hosts showed discipline and resilience with the bat, putting pressure on the Pakistani bowling attack during crucial stages of the match.
