ISLAMABAD: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert for the sixth spell of monsoon rains across Punjab, forecasting downpours in most districts of the province from tonight until August 21.
According to the notification, rain is expected starting tonight through August 21 in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galyat, Jhelum, Chakwal, Talagang, Attock, Sialkot, Narowal, and Mandi Bahauddin, as well as Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, and Wazirabad.
The spokesperson added that rain is also expected in Kasur, Okara, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Sargodha, Khushab, Mianwali, and Noorpur Thal.
In Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Layyah, Bhakkar, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, and D.G. Khan, rainfall is forecasted for August 20 and 21.
Heavy downpours heighten the risk of urban flooding in low-lying areas of Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, and Lahore, while Murree, Galyat, and other hilly regions face potential landslides.
