Balochistan: Missing ASF Deputy Director Found Dead

QUETTA: A senior official of Pakistan’s Airport Security Force (ASF) who had been missing for more than a month after being abducted in Balochistan has been found dead, according to local authorities.

Muhammad Waseem, 58, a Deputy Director of the ASF and a resident of Karachi, disappeared on May 20 while traveling from Quetta to Karachi with a colleague. The two men were intercepted by unidentified armed assailants near the Mohammad Tawa area, approximately 40 kilometers from the district of Kalat, and were subsequently taken away.

The incident triggered a large-scale search operation involving local administration officials and law enforcement agencies, including the police, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), and the Frontier Corps (FC). Despite extensive efforts over several weeks, authorities were unable to secure Waseem’s recovery.

Officials later confirmed that Waseem had been martyred during his captivity. Security sources say the India proxy Fitna al Hindustan operating in the region are behind the killing of the senior officier, describing the attack as part of a broader campaign of violence targeting state officials and security personnel in Balochistan.

The abduction and killing have renewed concerns over the security situation in the province, where militant groups have repeatedly targeted government officials, security forces, and civilians in recent years.
