Mangi Dam Attack: 11 Police Personnel Suspended Over Negligence

ZIARAT: Eleven police personnel, including an assistant sub-inspector (ASI), have been suspended over negligence during a security incident at the Mangi Dam Phase III Pump Station in Balochistan’s Ziarat district.

The suspension orders were issued by the Superintendent of Police (SP) for Ziarat district.

According to an official order, the personnel were found to have neglected their duties while deployed on security at the facility.

All 11 officials have been suspended with immediate effect and directed to report to the Police Lines in Ziarat.

The order stated that the suspended personnel must remain present at the Police Lines throughout the suspension period.

Departmental proceedings have also been initiated against them.

The suspension orders took effect on June 30, 2026.

Copies of the order have been forwarded to the relevant police authorities for implementation.

No further details were provided about the alleged negligence or the circumstances surrounding the attack at the Mangi Dam Phase III Pump Station.
The Mangi dam — intended to supply water to Quetta — remains incomplete three years after its scheduled deadline and the new deadline is the 2027.

The construction of the Mangi Dam would also help to improve the underground water level in the area where rain water is the only source of filling the dams.
