Makran Power Supply Slashed to 12-15 Hours After QESCO Chief’s Transfer

QESCO fails to end unannounced load shedding in Quetta

TURBAT : Public outrage has erupted in Makran following the transfer of the QESCO Chief Balochistan, who had ordered a 20-hour power supply to the region, with supply now slashed to 12 to 15 hours on various feeders.

According to official statements, a high-level meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Kech Yasir Iqbal Dashti was recently held in which WAPDA officials, former Jamaat-e-Islami Senator Ismail Buledai and other dignitaries participated. During the meeting, the QESCO Chief Balochistan addressed participants online and directed an immediate 20-hour power supply to all feeders in Makran. The announcement was widely appreciated by the public.

However, less than two weeks after the decision, the QESCO Chief was transferred, leading to a sharp reduction in power availability. Sources confirmed that supply has been cut to 15 hours on some feeders and just 12 hours on others. A new load shedding schedule has also been implemented on several feeders, including the Meri Kalat feeder, with outages now imposed from 11:00pm to 6:00am.

The public has expressed serious concern over the reversal, demanding that Deputy Commissioner Kech intervene to ensure implementation of the earlier decision. Residents have called on the DC to take notice of the matter, contact higher authorities, and restore the 20-hour power supply to all feeders across M

akran.
