AHMEDAHABAD: An 11-year-old boy was killed in a lion attack in India’s Gujarat state, according to Indian media.
The incident occurred near the 50th step of Girnar Hill while the boy was climbing with his family.
A lion suddenly attacked him and dragged him into the nearby forest in front of hundreds of pilgrims.
Police launched a large-scale search and rescue operation after receiving the alert.
Parts of the boy’s body were later found about 100 meters from the attack site and sent for forensic examination.
Authorities captured the suspected lion within four hours of the incident. As a precaution, two other lions seen in the area were also captured and transferred to Sakkarbaug Zoo for medical examination.
Forest officials said the suspected lion vomited during the examination, revealing human body remains.
Investigators also collected paw prints, drag marks, and other evidence from the scene as part of the ongoing investigation.
