Court Stops KP Govt from Withdrawing May 9 Cases

ISLAMABAD: An important development has emerged in the May 9 and 10 cases, as the Constitutional Court has stopped the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government from withdrawing the cases.

A stay order was issued on the request of Radio Pakistan.

In its petition, Radio Pakistan also requested that the case be shifted to Islamabad or any court in Punjab, stating that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government may try to influence the hearing in Peshawar.

This is the same Radio Pakistan case in which Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi, along with former ministers and other PTI leaders, were nominated.

However, the police have still not submitted the challan in the case.

Last year, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had decided to withdraw the May 9 and 10 cases, including the Radio Pakistan case.
