ISLAMABAD: The Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has stressed the importance of loyalty to the state and adherence to constitutional principles, while commenting on recent developments involving certain groups in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The defence minister said that discussions regarding national affairs should begin with loyalty and complete obedience to the state. Referring to individuals whom he described as being influenced by specific agendas, he urged them to study Article 5 of the Constitution of Pakistan, which emphasizes loyalty to the state and obedience to the Constitution and law.
Khawaja Asif stated that every citizen has a responsibility to uphold the country’s constitutional framework and national interests. He noted that respect for state institutions and the rule of law remains essential for maintaining stability and unity.
The minister also referred to Islamic teachings while discussing the issue. He cited a verse from Surah Al-Ma’idah (33), mentioning the importance of preventing disorder and corruption in society. In addition, both constitutional obligations and religious principles encourage citizens to act responsibly and contribute positively to peace and social harmony.
The statements come amid ongoing discussions and differing viewpoints in parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir regarding political and governance-related matters. The minister reiterated the need for all stakeholders to remain committed to lawful and peaceful engagement.
