LONDON : Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), a pro-Khalistan group, has decided to start voter registration for the so-called ‘Khalistan Referendum’ for Sikhs living in India, while also paying tribute to Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir, according to statements made by the group.
Addressing a press conference via video link on the 40th founding day of Khalistan, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun said that Field Marshal Asim Munir has “destroyed Modi’s arrogance.” He asserted that the movement for the independence of Indian Punjab will continue, and that independence is the only way to make Indian Punjab an independent state.
Pannun further claimed that former US President Donald Trump has repeatedly appreciated the services of Field Marshal Asim Munir, describing the Pakistani military leader as “currently the most powerful voice for peace in the world.” He added that the Khalistan Referendum campaign has grown from Punjab into a global movement, and that the struggle will continue until the establishment of Khalistan.
According to Pannun, Sikhs living from Kashmir to Kanyakumari will be eligible for registration in the referendum. He stated that more than 18 lakh (1.8 million) Sikhs have already cast their votes in the Khalistan referendum. The voter registration process, he said, will be started in gurdwaras of Delhi, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh.
