Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi is returning to Islamabad this evening instead of going from Muscat to Russia

ISLAMABAD: Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi departed Islamabad late last night, heading toward Muscat, Oman, and later Russia. Aragchi is expected to return to Islamabad later this evening to continue consultations with Pakistani leadership.

In this regard, his visit is being viewed as part of a broader diplomatic shuttle aimed at bridging gaps between Iran, the United States, and other global stakeholders.

The latest round of diplomacy comes at a critical juncture, with increased focus on de-escalation and conflict resolution in the region.

The sources indicate that the Iranian delegation is actively engaging key international partners to present proposals designed to reduce tensions and promote dialogue.

Meanwhile, a temporary ceasefire has been extended following a request by Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir. The extension was granted by former U.S. President Donald Trump, who remains engaged in diplomatic backchannel efforts, according to insiders familiar with the matter.

The ceasefire extension is intended to provide additional time for Iran to finalize and formally submit its peace proposal, which is expected to outline mechanisms for reducing hostilities and establishing a framework for long-term stability.

While details of the proposed agreement remain undisclosed, the ongoing diplomatic activity underscores a renewed urgency among global actors to prevent escalation and seek negotiated solutions.
