Iran issues fresh warning over Strait of Hormuz, says foreign military movement will face consequences

TEHRAN: Iran has issued a fresh warning to foreign military forces against conducting any military activity in the Strait of Hormuz, stressing that the strategically important waterway should not become a stage for the military presence of non-regional powers.

In this regard, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said the Strait of Hormuz is not a place for military demonstrations by countries from outside the region.

He focused on that Iran, as one of the countries responsible for ensuring security in the vital maritime passage, strongly warns against any military movement that could increase tensions.

So far, Gharibabadi said the responsibility for maintaining security in the Strait of Hormuz lies with the coastal states bordering the waterway. He added that any party creating instability or engaging in provocative actions would be solely responsible for the consequences of its decisions.

The latest statements come amid continued regional tensions and renewed debate over security and freedom of navigation in one of the world’s most strategically significant shipping routes.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated that the regional situation had changed following the recent conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States.

He said Washington must now acknowledge what he described as the “new realities” affecting trade and regional security.

Ghalibaf made the remarks during a meeting with the Speaker of Uzbekistan’s Parliament. He said recent developments had created conditions different from those of the past and had compelled the United States to recognize changing regional dynamics.

He also expressed optimism that trade relations between Iran and Uzbekistan could be further expanded under the current circumstances. Ghalibaf added that the evolving regional environment could eventually help create conditions for the easing of international sanctions.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important maritime corridors, carrying a significant share of global energy exports.
