ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Meteorological Department has forecast hot and humid weather across most parts of the country on Sunday. It said the plains will continue to experience intense heat during the day.
The department said strong winds, thunderstorms and rain are likely in parts of Kashmir, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast Punjab and the Potohar region during the evening and night. Heavy rain and hail may also occur at isolated locations.
Islamabad and surrounding areas will remain hot and humid during the day. Cloud cover is expected to increase in the afternoon. Thunderstorms and rain may develop during the evening or night.
Most districts of Punjab will also remain hot and humid. However, evening and nighttime thunderstorms are expected at isolated places in Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Sargodha, Khushab, Mianwali and nearby areas.
Hot and humid weather will persist across most of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Rain and thunderstorms are likely at isolated places in Chitral, Upper and Lower Dir, Swat, Buner, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Kurram, Kohat, Hangu, Orakzai and adjoining areas.
Sindh will continue to experience very hot and humid weather. Coastal districts may see partly cloudy skies.
Most parts of Balochistan will remain very hot and dry. Coastal areas are likely to experience partly cloudy conditions.
The department also forecast evening and nighttime thunderstorms in parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Heavy rain is possible in some areas. Gilgit-Baltistan is expected to remain partly cloudy.
