ISLAMABAD: Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail and Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan have agreed to speed up the development and completion of major highway projects aimed at improving connectivity between Balochistan and other parts of the country.
The understanding was reached during a meeting in Islamabad, where both sides discussed the progress of important road infrastructure schemes in the province. Senior officials, including the Chairman of the National Highway Authority (NHA) and the Federal Secretary for Communications, also attended the meeting.
During the discussions, the federal minister reiterated the government’s commitment to completing the Quetta-Zhob-Dera Ismail Khan dual carriageway on an accelerated basis. He emphasized the importance of improving road links between Balochistan and the rest of Pakistan, particularly to facilitate trade, transportation and economic activity.
The highway project is considered significant for strengthening connectivity between Quetta, Zhob and Dera Ismail Khan. Once completed, improved road infrastructure is expected to make travel safer and more efficient while providing better access for commercial traffic and local communities.
Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail highlighted the importance of timely execution of infrastructure projects in Balochistan. He stressed that improved highways could play a major role in supporting economic development, connecting remote areas and creating greater opportunities for the people of the province.
The meeting also focused on the need for close coordination between federal authorities and relevant institutions to remove obstacles affecting the progress of ongoing road projects.

The federal government assured the governor that efforts would continue to maintain momentum on priority highway schemes. Officials were directed to work toward ensuring that development activities proceed according to accelerated timelines.
