ISLAMABAD: Residents of Gulberg Greens were placed on alert on Thursday evening after a Bengal tiger accompanied by two cubs was reportedly spotted in B Block, Street 15, creating concern among families in the residential area.
The sighting was confirmed by the housing society’s security management and local residents. The presence of the tiger with its young cubs heightened concerns among residents, particularly because a mother protecting her offspring could potentially become dangerous if she perceives a threat.
The unusual incident quickly caused anxiety in the neighborhood, with families taking precautions and remaining indoors. Security teams in Gulberg Greens increased their presence and began closely monitoring the area following reports of the animals.
Photographs and videos purportedly showing the tiger and its cubs were circulated among community groups, further raising concern among residents. Families were advised to avoid unnecessary movement outside their homes while security personnel continued efforts to monitor the situation.
Residents, particularly children, were urged not to venture outdoors until the situation was brought under control. Security officials also asked people to immediately communicate any further sightings or movement of the animals to the relevant security teams.
A security official informed residents through a message shared in community groups that teams were maintaining a high level of vigilance and closely observing the area. Residents were specifically requested to report any indication that the tiger or cubs had moved to another location.
Another security official said security personnel were actively dealing with the situation and taking precautionary steps to minimize any possible risk to residents.
The presence of a Bengal tiger and two cubs in a populated residential neighborhood caused considerable unease among families. Residents expressed concern about the safety of children and other people living in the area, particularly because the animals’ next movement could not be predicted.
One resident told APP that families were extremely concerned, especially about children. The resident said uncertainty over where the tiger might move next had prompted families to remain inside their homes.
The incident also raised questions among residents about how a potentially dangerous wild animal had entered or reached a densely populated residential locality.
