The announcement was made during an important meeting chaired by GDA Director General Moin ur Rehman Khan, where officials reviewed future development strategies and finalized plans for the city’s upcoming 10-year development program.

The program includes projects such as a Central Business District, Special Economic Zones, GDA Housing Scheme, environmental corridors, commercial centers, museums, cultural heritage centers, coastal tourism resorts, public spaces, Grab Beach Park, and the GDA Club.

The plan also covers construction and expansion of roads, completion of unfinished GDA road projects, new highways, modern urban infrastructure, environmental protection measures, and improved public facilities.

Officials said the development program will be presented to the provincial and federal governments for approval and funding, with hopes of inclusion in the 2026–27 budget.

Additional proposals include underground electricity cabling, solar-powered streetlights, green belts, beautification projects, restoration of old town areas, improved sewerage systems, and installation of nearly 200 kilometers of new water pipelines along with desalination plants to improve water supply in the city.
