Earthquake Jolts Rakhni Balochistan

QUETTA: A magnitude 4.0 earthquake struck Rakhni and surrounding areas in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province on Wednesday, causing panic among residents but with no immediate reports of casualties or damage.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s National Seismic Monitoring Centre, the earthquake measured 4.0 on the Richter scale. Its epicenter was located approximately 5 kilometers southwest of Rakhni, at a depth of 37 kilometers.

The tremors prompted residents to rush out of their homes and buildings in fear, with many gathering in open areas while reciting prayers.

Authorities said there were no initial reports of loss of life or property damage. Local administration and relevant emergency agencies are monitoring the situation and assessing any potential impact.

No aftershocks were immediately reported.
