RAWALPINDI: Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) intelligence-based operations in Karak and Khyber have resulted in the deaths of 9 terrorists and the arrest of 21 others, including Afghan nationals.
According to the Central Police Office (CPO), these actions mark a major breakthrough in the investigations into the Madrasa Haqqania blast and the suicide assassination plot against Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
The investigations successfully exposed the terrorists’ financing networks, safe houses, and target selection patterns.
Evidence confirms that cryptocurrency was used to fund these operations.
Authorities also traced sleeper cells and networks of foreign fighters belonging to proscribed organizations, identifying a structured network of “Khawarij” behind the violence.
The CPO noted that while cross-border links and difficult terrain pose significant investigative challenges, they have successfully mapped the organizational links involved.
Notably, in several major incidents—such as the Police Lines suicide attack—no group claimed responsibility, while in other cases, claims made by banned outfits were proven false and misleading.
