CTD Kills 2 Terrorists, Several on Run in Karak, KP

Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Peshawar Operation Kills Four Militants

KARAK:  In a coordinated intelligence-based operation, police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) eliminated two terrorists during a fierce exchange of fire in the Karak district, while several other militants managed to flee the scene, officials confirmed on Saturday.

According to District Police Officer (DPO) Karak Imran Khan, the joint raid was launched following actionable intelligence regarding the presence of activists from a banned outfit in the area. The CTD Kohat Region spearheaded the operation within the jurisdiction of Khurram Police Station, near Niki Sahib Ziarat.

As security forces cordoned off the location, the armed suspects opened indiscriminate fire on the personnel. “The fire was effectively retaliated, resulting in the killing of two Khawarij,” DPO Khan stated. He added that the remaining terrorists exploited the cover of the surrounding terrain to escape.

Security officials recovered a significant cache of weaponry from the slain militants, including two hand grenades, two submachine guns (SMGs), six magazines, and a large quantity of cartridges. Preliminary investigations suggest the group was actively planning to disrupt public order by setting up road blockades and planting improvised explosive devices (IEDs) along key routes in the district.

In the aftermath of the encounter, a heavy police contingent swiftly encircled the area and conducted a thorough clearance operation. Senior officials confirmed that a comprehensive search operation is now in full swing to track down and apprehend the fugitive terrorists.
