CM Balochistan Orders Probe Into Quetta Businessman's Killing

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti has taken immediate notice of the tragic murder of Muhammad Hashim Noorzai, the owner of the famed Kabul Jaan Restaurant, and has ordered a high-level investigation into the killing, officials confirmed Saturday.

According to Assistant Chief Minister Balochistan Shahid Rind, the Chief Minister has formally sought a detailed report from the Inspector General of Police, while the case has been transferred to the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) to ensure a thorough and transparent probe.

An officer of SP rank from the SIU will head the investigation team, tasked with expediting the inquiry and bringing the perpetrators to justice, Rind stated.

The Chief Minister has expressed deep solidarity with the bereaved family and assured them that every effort would be made to apprehend those responsible. “Justice will be served, and the accused will be brought to book according to the law,” Rind quoted the CM as saying.

Meanwhile, Member of Provincial Assembly Malik Naeem Bazai and Deputy Commissioner Quetta remain present with the protesting family members, maintaining continuous communication at the government level to address their concerns.

“This incident is extremely saddening,” Rind added. “The involved elements will be arrested soon and face justice as per the law.”

Noorzai, a well-known restaurateur in Quetta, was killed earlier this week under circumstances that have sparked outrage among local traders and citizens. The family has been protesting, demanding swift action against the killers.

No further details regarding the motive or suspects have been released as the investigation remains underway.
