QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti on Thursday strongly condemned the killing of six abducted labourers in Kech district, calling the attack a “barbaric act of terrorism” and vowing to bring those responsible to justice.
Bugti said the victims were Pakistanis and should not be viewed through an ethnic or provincial lens.
“These martyrs did not belong to one ethnicity or one province. They were citizens of Pakistan. The terrorists targeted Pakistanis,” he said in a statement.
The chief minister said the attack violated Baloch traditions, which he described as rooted in honour, hospitality and brotherhood.
“Baloch traditions do not permit the killing of unarmed and innocent people,” he said.
Bugti accused militants, whom he referred to as Fitna al Hindustan, of attempting to undermine Pakistan’s unity, peace and development.
“They are enemies of Pakistan’s unity, peace and progress. They have no connection with the Baloch nation,” he said.
The chief minister pledged that those responsible for killing innocent civilians, along with anyone facilitating them, would be brought to justice.
He also accused Pakistan’s adversaries of trying to incite hatred among the country’s ethnic communities.
“Our enemies want to create divisions among Pakistanis, but the nation will remain united and defeat their malicious designs,” Bugti said.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to defeating militancy and maintaining the writ of the state.
“There will be no compromise on the writ of the state. Terrorists will be defeated on every front,” he said.
