Washington: The head of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), Admiral Brad Cooper, has termed Pakistan a crucial and reliable partner in the war against terrorism during a briefing to the US Senate Committee.
According to Admiral Cooper, Pakistan is playing a pivotal role in the fight against ISIS-K (Daesh-Khorasan) in the region.
He emphasized that the robust military partnership with Islamabad has yielded tangible results against terrorists, reflecting the long-standing friendship and shared commitment between the US and Pakistan.
The CENTCOM chief also expressed deep concern over the situation in Afghanistan, noting that Central Asian partners remain highly vigilant regarding the rising cross-border terrorism breeding under the Afghan Taliban’s watch. He added that Afghanistan remains a primary focus for Washington due to persistent regional security threats, ranking at the top of the US watch list due to the continuous presence of terrorist elements on its soil.
Global experts view the US commander’s statement as an international validation of Pakistan’s sacrifices, operational expertise, and strategic importance in the war on terror.
Analysts suggest that Admiral Cooper’s assessment reinforces Pakistan’s credibility while exposing the terrorist networks thriving under the ruling Afghan Taliban.
By recognizing Pakistan as a frontline counter-terrorism partner, the US has validated Islamabad’s long-standing stance: that safe havens in Afghanistan pose a continuous threat to regional peace and stability.
