QUETTA: Balochistan Anti-Terrorism Act 2026 has been officially enacted following the approval of the Governor of Balochistan, tightening the legal grip against anti-state elements.
Under the newly implemented Balochistan Anti-Terrorism Act 2026, cases involving crimes against the state as outlined in Chapter VI of the Pakistan Penal Code—aimed at spreading public panic or intimidating the government—will now be tried directly in Anti-Terrorism Courts (ATCs) without requiring any separate government sanction after the FIR is lodged.
Furthermore, the amendment allows public prosecutors and district law officers with a minimum of ten years of experience to be appointed as ATC judges.
The primary objective of the Balochistan Anti-Terrorism Act 2026 is to ensure that severe crimes against the state bypass the delays and complexities of standard judicial procedures, sending a clear and decisive message that accountability will be swift and absolute under the Balochistan Anti-Terrorism Act 2026.
The implementation of the Balochistan Anti Terrorism Act 2026 marks a decisive turning point in Pakistan’s internal security framework, signaling an uncompromising resolve to dismantle insurgent networks and curb violent extremism.
For decades, the province has grappled with persistent security challenges, where anti-state elements have exploited procedural loopholes, judicial delays, and bureaucratic red tape to evade prompt accountability.
By enabling direct trials in Anti-Terrorism Courts (ATCs) without the need for separate government sanctions post-FIR, this legislation eliminates critical bottlenecks that previously hindered counter-terrorism efforts.
Furthermore, the inclusion of seasoned legal professionals—such as public prosecutors and district law officers with at least a decade of experience—as ATC judges reinforces judicial capacity and expedites the dispensation of justice.
This robust legal overhaul ensures that actions aimed at intimidating the state or spreading public panic are met with swift, unyielding prosecution.
