QUETTA: Authorities in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province have imposed a night curfew in Surab district until Aug. 15 amid security concerns.
The district administration said the curfew would run from 8 pm to 9 am each day from Aug 9 to Aug 15.
Officials urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel during curfew hours. They also asked people to follow security instructions and cooperate with law enforcement agencies.
Authorities warned that anyone violating the curfew could face legal action. They also said violators would be responsible for any loss or damage resulting from their actions.
Khuzdar restricts business hours
Authorities in neighbouring Khuzdar district have also restricted business hours because of security concerns.
Under an order issued by the deputy commissioner’s office, markets, shops, hotels and other commercial establishments must close from 8 p.m. to 10 a.m. daily.
The order took immediate effect and will remain in force until further notice.
Pharmacies, medical stores, private hospitals and other medical facilities are exempt from the restrictions because they provide essential services.
The district administration directed assistant commissioners, magistrates and police officers to ensure compliance.
Officials urged traders and residents to cooperate with authorities to reduce security risks and protect people and property.
Authorities will review the security situation before deciding whether to modify or lift the restrictions.
