LAHORE: Opening batter Sahibzada Farhan, who successfully led Pakistan’s T20 side during the Asian Games, has been strongly proposed to retain the captaincy for the upcoming home series against Sri Lanka.
According to sources, head coach Mike Hesson is in favor of appointing Sahibzada Farhan as the permanent T20 format captain, replacing Salman Ali Agha.
Insiders indicate that the upcoming series against Sri Lanka will likely feature several young and emerging players as part of a transition phase.
The strategy is reportedly being formulated with an eye on the 2028 T20 World Cup, aiming to build a fresh pool of talent.
Consequently, senior players like Fakhar Zaman, Shaheen Afridi, and Haris Rauf are not expected to make a return to the squad for this series.
To note, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are scheduled to play a three-match T20I series on October 9, 11, and 13 in Rawalpindi.
