Australia produced a dominant performance in the second Test, defeating Bangladesh by an innings and 51 runs to level the series 1-1.
The Australian bowling attack once again proved too strong for Bangladesh as the visitors were dismissed cheaply in their second innings.
Bangladesh had been bowled out for just 64 runs in their first innings. Australia responded with 210, securing a valuable 146-run first-innings lead on a difficult batting surface.
Australia’s innings was anchored by Cameron Green, who scored a crucial 67 runs, while Steve Smith contributed 42. Their performances helped Australia build a significant advantage despite the challenging conditions.
Bangladesh’s bowlers, particularly Sharif Islam, fought back strongly. Sharif claimed seven wickets for 45 runs, giving Bangladesh hope of restricting Australia’s lead. However, the hosts were unable to capitalize on the opportunity as their batting collapsed once again.
Bangladesh Collapse in Second Innings
Facing a 146-run deficit, Bangladesh needed a strong batting performance to extend the contest. Instead, their second innings lasted only 32 overs before the entire team was dismissed for 95 runs.
The collapse allowed Australia to complete a comprehensive victory without requiring a third innings. Bangladesh’s inability to withstand sustained pressure from the Australian attack ultimately proved decisive.
Mitchell Starc was once again at the center of Australia’s bowling dominance. After taking six wickets in Bangladesh’s first innings, Starc claimed another four wickets in the second innings.
