Asad Umar’s “Someone is coming” post after Khan’s Shifa shift

Imran Khan Hospital Transfer and Legal Compliance

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former federal minister Asad Umar has made a cryptic and sarcastic remark on social media following the transfer of party founder Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital, fueling fresh political speculation.

In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Asad Umar wrote: “A voice is coming from Shifa Hospital that the weather here is going to change… someone is going to come here.”

The timing of Asad Umar’s post is significant, coming amid intense political debate over the former prime minister’s medical examination and treatment at the Islamabad hospital. The Supreme Court had ordered Imran Khan’s transfer from Adiala Jail to Shifa Hospital within 48 hours on August 18, with the next hearing scheduled for September 16.

The PTI leader’s statement has been interpreted in political circles as a sarcastic gesture, hinting at potential political developments during Imran Khan’s hospital stay. Social media users have also expressed divided opinions on the post, with some viewing it as a veiled political message while others dismissed it as mere rhetoric.

The hospital transfer issue has already sparked a legal and political showdown, with the government filing a review petition against the Supreme Court’s decision. The government’s legal action further intensified the debate, with both sides trading barbs over the former prime minister’s health, treatment, and the circumstances surrounding his incarceration.

Asad Umar, who has consistently responded to political issues related to Imran Khan and PTI through public statements, has once again brought the matter to the forefront of political discourse. His recent post has added a layer of intrigue to an already charged political atmosphere, with observers closely watching developments at the hospital-turned-sub-jail.

Imran Khan was shifted to Shifa Hospital in the early hours of Friday under tight security, with authorities declaring executive floors a sub-jail and deploying hundreds of security personnel. A medical board comprising specialists in cardiology, general medicine, and ophthalmology has been constituted to examine him, and his personal physician Dr Faisal Sultan has been permitted to remain involved in his treatment.
