ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that the Middle East conflict has resulted in the tragic loss of numerous precious lives.
Addressing the United Nations General Assembly, the Prime Minister highlighted that Pakistan successfully brought Iran and the United States to the negotiating table, noting that diplomatic space was created through the efforts of Field Marshal Asim Munir.
He emphasized that maritime routes such as the Strait of Hormuz have come under pressure due to the conflict, and critical routes like the Strait of Hormuz and Bab-el-Mandeb must remain open as they are vital for the global economy.
Condemning drone attacks on Makkah Al-Mukarramah, he stated they caused severe distress among Muslims worldwide, adding that no compromise will be made on the security of the Harmain Sharifain and that Pakistan stands in absolute solidarity with Saudi Arabia.
He reiterated that the Makkah Agreement is aimed at peace rather than against any nation.
Addressing regional security, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif asserted that India launched an attack on Pakistan based on a fabricated narrative, but Pakistan won the conflict and taught India a lesson through the steadfastness and courage of the Field Marshal.
He noted that President Trump’s efforts halted the Pakistan-India conflict, saving the lives of millions in South Asia.
Pakistan exercised its right to self-defense under the UN Charter, ensuring that the situation must not reach such a threshold again.
On the Kashmir dispute, the Prime Minister stated that the people of occupied Kashmir are being subjected to collective punishment for demanding their right to self-determination.
Reassuring Kashmiri brothers and sisters of continued moral and diplomatic support, he declared that Kashmir is and will remain the jugular vein of Pakistan, and a plebiscite must be held in accordance with UN resolutions as Kashmiris look toward the United Nations after eight decades.

Furthermore, he expressed opposition to Israeli aggression against Lebanon and Syria, emphasized that water is Pakistan’s right under the Indus Waters Treaty, and stressed that Afghan soil must be prevented from being used by the BLA and TTP for attacks inside Pakistan.
