PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has officially announced the postponement of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march. According to reports from a private TV channel, the Chief Minister made the announcement during a press conference, stating that the long march will now commence from Peshawar on October 4.
This decision follows earlier statements by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan, during which reports regarding the potential delay of the long march were dismissed as fabricated.
The revised schedule now sets a new departure date for the political demonstration from the provincial capital.
It is worth mentioning that Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf had announced to conduct a Long March towards Islamabad on 27th September 2026 .
The federal government had seized both the motorway and the GT road paths from KP and Punjab to Islamabad and the Capital City was to be blocked with some 1000 small and large containers.
Moreover, the police from Punjab and Sindh was also called up to disrupt the protest in Islamabad.
The federal government had categorically warned the leadership of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf , and had threatened to take strict actions for those attemting a forced entry in Islamabad for protest.
On the current development of postponing the march, Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf has said that the ongoing law-and-order situation may cause any unwanted situation , therefore, the political party of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf has mutually decided to pospone the long march till 4th October.
The Government spokesperson , on the other hand have said that PTI is fleeing from its stance of protests and sits-inn now.
PTI’s social media forces , however, has hailed the leadership’s decision of postponing the long march calling it ‘A delay tactic to keep the government machinary engaged’.
