LAHORE: Senior Pakistani actor Usman Peerzada has strongly denied rumours that actress Humaira Bano married him, calling the reports baseless and misleading.
Speculation began circulating on social media after Humaira Bano announced her marriage but did not reveal her husband’s face. Some social media pages and YouTube channels then claimed that she had married Usman Peerzada.
The reports also alleged that Peerzada had divorced his first wife, veteran actress Samina Peerzada.
Peerzada addressed the rumours during a morning show and firmly rejected the claims. He said he had been married to the same woman for the past 45 years and hoped she would remain his wife for the next 50 years.
“I don’t understand why people spread lies just for money and more clicks,” Peerzada said, questioning the motive behind linking his name with Humaira Bano.
He said the rumours had not harmed him personally but had worried his fans. According to Peerzada, he received numerous calls from people seeking clarification about the reports.
The veteran actor added that similar rumours had been circulated about him thousands of times in the past, but he no longer allowed such claims to affect him.
Peerzada said he had also spoken to Humaira Bano and her actual husband about the rumours. He said they simply laughed about the situation.
Humaira Bano also rejected the reports during a video call with Uzma Tahir. She clarified that she had married someone else and dismissed the claims linking her to Peerzada as baseless.
