QUETTA: Security forces have foiled an attempt by Fitna al-Hindustan (FAH) militants to ambush the security escort of the deputy commissioner of Tump and abduct its personnel, officials said on Friday.
The attack took place on Thursday in Tump, a newly established district in southwestern Balochistan near Pakistan’s border with Iran.
Heavily armed militants ambushed the deputy commissioner’s convoy and launched an attempt to overwhelm the security personnel accompanying the official.
Security forces responded swiftly and mounted a strong counterattack, thwarting the militants’ plan.
All personnel assigned to the deputy commissioner’s security escort were safely rescued, officials said.
The militants fled the area after abandoning their vehicle and weapons. Several attackers were also wounded during the exchange of fire, according to officials.
The failed attack underscores the persistent threat posed by militant attempts to target government officials and abduct security personnel. Such attacks are aimed at spreading fear, undermining state authority and disrupting government operations in the region.
Meanwhile, security forces remain on high alert across Makran to protect government officials and safeguard the writ of the state.

Authorities have vowed to intensify operations against militant networks and their support infrastructure under the Azm-e-Istehkam framework.
