LAHORE: Lahore police handed over the body of a 25-year-old female TikToker to her family after completing medico-legal formalities, officials said.
The body of Arshma Ahmad was found at her flat in Lahore’s Islampura area several days ago.
According to police, Arshma was found hanging inside flat No. 203, where she lived alone. She worked as a beautician and had rented the flat only recently.
Police have launched an investigation into her death. Initial findings suggest that she may have died by suicide.
However, investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding her death.
Meanwhile, forensic teams have collected physical samples from the scene and sent them for analysis. Police said they would take further legal action after receiving the forensic report.
Authorities have not ruled out other possibilities. They said the investigation remains underway.
The case comes amid another high-profile killing of a female TikToker in Pakistan. Shamso Bibi, 28, known online as Ayesha Gilamana, was shot dead in Taxila on Aug. 14 while travelling with her siblings.
Police initially treated the case as a targeted shooting but later arrested five suspects, including her father and brother, after examining more than 100 CCTV cameras and other technical evidence. Police have alleged that the killing was planned by family members in the name of so-called honour.
The victim’s father, brother and other relatives remain under investigation, while two alleged shooters have also been arrested. The allegations have yet to be established in court.
