DARWIN: Bangladesh Cricket produced a superb bowling display as Australia were bowled out for 198 in the opening Test of the series in Darwin. Hasan Mahmud led the attack with a six-wicket haul.
Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. The hosts made a steady start with a 45-run opening partnership.
However, Bangladesh Cricket struck back quickly. Australia lost four wickets for 74 runs.
Jake Weatherald scored 23 before his dismissal. Travis Head made 22, while Cameron Green scored 13 and Marnus Labuschagne managed only one run.
Bangladesh vs Australia: Smith Leads Brief Recovery
Steve Smith and Alex Carey then added 55 runs to rebuild the Australia Cricket innings.
Carey was dismissed for 19 when Australia reached 129.
Smith continued to hold one end together, but Bangladesh kept taking wickets at regular intervals.
Australia eventually collapsed and were bowled out for 198.
Smith top-scored with 71 runs. Beau Webster made 12, captain Pat Cummins scored nine, Nathan Lyon seven and Mitchell Starc one.
Hasan Mahmud Leads Bangladesh Bowling Attack
Hasan Mahmud was the standout bowler for Bangladesh, taking six wickets for 55 runs.
Taskin Ahmed and Ebadot Hossain claimed two wickets each.
The performance marked only the second occasion when Bangladesh Cricket fast bowlers took all 10 wickets in a Test innings.
Hasan Mahmud’s figures of six for 55 also rank as the third-best innings figures by a Bangladesh fast bowler in Test Cricket.
The result puts Bangladesh in a strong position early in the Bangladesh vs Australia Test.

The Australian batting collapse also gives Bangladesh a major opportunity to build a first-innings lead and take control of the match.
