Security Forces Foil Militant Roadblock Attempt in Harnai, Kill Three

QUETTA: Pakistani security forces foiled an attempt by militants to establish a roadblock in the Harnai district of southwestern Balochistan, killing three attackers and injuring several others, security sources said on Tuesday.

According to the sources, militants identified as members of “Fitna al Hindustan” attempted to set up the blockade at Domera Cross in the Shahrag sector of Harnai.

Security forces acted on intelligence and rapidly deployed combat teams to the area, triggering a brief exchange of fire with the militants.

Three militants were killed during the operation, while another three to four sustained serious injuries, the sources said.

The remaining attackers fled towards nearby areas after the firefight.

Security forces used armed quadcopter drone to track the fleeing militants and targeted them during the pursuit, according to the sources.

A clearance and search operation remains underway to locate and apprehend the remaining militants.

The operation is part of ongoing efforts by Pakistani security forces to disrupt militant networks and prevent attacks in Balochistan, where security forces have intensified intelligence-based operations in recent months.
