Pakistan Railways Suspends Shalimar Express for One Month

LAHORE: Pakistan Railways has suspended the premium Shalimar Express service between Lahore and Karachi for one month after floodwaters damaged a railway bridge, disrupting train operations between Lahore and Faisalabad.

According to railway authorities, the Shalimar Express, operated in collaboration with the private sector, runs between Lahore and Karachi via Faisalabad.

Officials said rail traffic on the Lahore–Faisalabad section was halted after the Qila Sattar Shah–Masan Kalar railway bridge was damaged by floodwaters, rendering the route unsafe for train operations.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Railways has diverted the Karakoram Express, which normally travels from Lahore to Karachi via Faisalabad. The train will now operate via Sahiwal until the affected rail infrastructure is restored.

Railway authorities have not announced a timeline for the completion of repair work but said efforts are underway to restore normal services as soon as possible.
