QUETTA: A family in Pakistan’s southwestern city of Quetta has welcomed quintuplets after a woman gave birth to five babies in a rare multiple birth, doctors said.
The newborns include three girls and two boys.
The family already had three children. The birth of the quintuplets has increased the total number of children to eight.
The delivery was carried out successfully at a private hospital in Quetta under the supervision of specialist doctors.
Hospital officials described the birth of five babies in a single pregnancy as a rare medical event that requires intensive neonatal care.
Doctors said all five newborns will remain under special observation for 10 days as a precaution.
Their health, weight and overall development will be monitored closely during the period.
Medical experts said continuous medical care would be provided to ensure the babies remain in stable condition.
