LAHORE: Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari has strongly condemned controversial remarks made by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s sister, Noreen Niazi, regarding the “War of Truth” and the Pakistan Army, calling her statements a reflection of her brother’s divisive thinking.
In a sharply worded statement, Bukhari asserted that Niazi’s comments reveal the family’s deep-seated animosity, claiming “this family feels pain with every success of Pakistan.” The minister emphasized that the world has recognized Pakistan’s decisive victory over India in the struggle for truth, and described Niazi’s remarks as favoring “fascist Modi” — a stance she termed shameful and condemnable.
“The founder of PTI and his three sisters are either the most intelligent people in the world or crazy,” Bukhari said, adding that “nothing good can ever come from the founder of PTI and his family for Pakistan.” She lauded the Pakistan Armed Forces and the Shaheens for creating historic achievements during the War of Truth, stating that the entire nation takes pride in the Army’s accomplishments.
The controversy erupted after Noreen Niazi’s explosive interview surfaced online, in which she leveled serious allegations against the country’s military establishment. According to the interview, Niazi claimed that the War of Truth was essentially a “nexus between Pakistan’s armed forces and Modi.” She further alleged that India refrained from attacking Pakistan at the behest of Israel, because Pakistan was reportedly moving toward recognizing the Israeli state.
Bukhari’s condemnation comes as the ruling PML-N government seeks to rally national unity behind the armed forces, sharply rebuking any narrative it views as undermining military institutions.
