Azma Bukhari criticizes PTI founder’s family over remarks on Pakistan Army and ‘Marka e Haq’

LAHORE: Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari has strongly criticized the family of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder following controversial statements attributed to his sister, Noreen Niazi, regarding Pakistan’s armed forces and the country’s recent military achievements, saying the comments were disappointing and against the national sentiment.

In this regard, Bukhari alleged that the PTI founder’s family “fails to appreciate Pakistan’s successes” and claimed that Noreen Niazi’s remarks reflected the political thinking of her brother.

She maintained that the statement had drawn criticism because it appeared to undermine the sacrifices and achievements of Pakistan’s armed forces.

The provincial information minister said that the international community had acknowledged Pakistan’s success in what she described as the “Marka e Haq” against India.

In this sense, Bukhari termed them “regrettable, condemnable, and inappropriate,” alleging that they appeared to support Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s narrative.

Bukhari further intensified her criticism by claiming that the PTI founder and his sisters consistently adopt positions that, in her view, do not serve Pakistan’s national interests.

She alleged that the family has repeatedly failed to support the country’s achievements and questioned their political approach.

The Punjab minister praised the armed forces and the Pakistan Air Force, saying they demonstrated professionalism, courage, and determination during the recent military confrontation.

She stated that the armed forces had achieved a historic success, adding that the entire nation takes pride in their performance and sacrifices.

Bukhari reasserted that the country remains united in expressing solidarity with its military institutions and emphasized that national security and sovereignty should remain above political differences.

She said that political leaders and public figures should exercise responsibility while making statements on matters related to the country’s defence and armed forces.

The minister’s remarks came after controversy surrounding statements attributed to Noreen Niazi regarding the Pakistan Army and the military operation referred to by government officials as the “Battle of Truth.” The reported comments sparked political debate, with government representatives strongly condemning the remarks, while no detailed response from the PTI leadership had been included at the time of filing this report.

The issue has once again highlighted the sharp political divide between the ruling government and the PTI, with both sides continuing to exchange criticism over national security, political narratives, and recent developments.
