RAW Supports TTP, BLA: CM Balochistan

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti on Saturday accused India’s external intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), of backing militant groups operating in Pakistan, including the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA).

Speaking at an event organized under the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Summer Camp, Sarfaraz Bugti said the government would ensure lasting peace in Balochistan and that residents would soon witness positive changes.

“No force can stop Balochistan from moving towards peace and development because Pakistan and Balochistan are inseparable,” he said.

Referring to a recent attack on the Mangi Dam project, Bugti said militants had sought to disrupt a key water supply scheme for the province. He said police responding to the attack, as well as reinforcement teams, were targeted.

The chief minister said a judicial commission had been formed to investigate the incident and pledged that its findings would be made public.

Bugti also accused some political leaders of promoting what he described as anti-state narratives during a recent protest in Quetta. He said Pakistan’s military and the people of Balochistan would jointly defeat what he called an organized campaign against the country.

He reiterated that terrorism and violence could never be justified and said Pakistan would continue to confront militant groups.

Bugti also repeated Pakistan’s longstanding position that Afghan territory was being used by militant groups to launch attacks inside Pakistan.
