QUETTA: The Government of Balochistan and representatives of the families of the Ziarat martyrs, alongside All Parties, have reached a formal agreement to address grievances and implement welfare measures.
The terms of the agreement, signed by the government committee including Provincial Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar and Interior Minister Mir Ziaullah Langau, are as follows:
- Judicial Commission: The Balochistan government will issue a notification today to establish a judicial commission through the Balochistan High Court.
- Action Against Militants: The government commits to taking strict measures against armed groups and criminal elements involved in terrorist incidents across districts including Ziarat, Shahrag, Harnai, and Qilla Abdullah. A meeting with stakeholders and security officials will be convened next week.
- Political Engagement: A conference of all political parties—including those not represented in the assembly—will be called within 15 days to review police and security affairs. If a consensus is not reached, the matter will be settled through a vote in the assembly.
- Security Upgrades: Security arrangements for police personnel in urban areas of Balochistan will be strengthened to ensure better protection.
- Land and Settlement Committee: A committee led by the Commissioner of Ziarat and local administration will be formed to address land rights and settlement issues for affected areas.
- Martyrs’ Package: Families of both civilian and police martyrs will be officially declared “Shuhada” (martyrs) and provided compensation according to government policy, including education for children, plot allocations, and employment for heirs, with the salary of the martyr continuing until the age of 60.
- Memorializing Martyrs: Various government buildings and the historic Coal Gate (Koyla Phatak) Chowk will be renamed in honor of the martyrs.
- Conclusion of Sit-in: Both parties have agreed to end the ongoing protest, and the funeral rites for the martyrs will be conducted.
