Major General Faisal Naseer Appointed NACTA’s National Coordinator

ISLAMABAD: Major General Faisal Naseer of the Pakistan Army has been appointed National Coordinator of the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) for a three-year term, according to an Establishment Division notification issued on Friday.

The appointment was approved by the federal government and will take effect immediately. Major General Faisal Naseer has been assigned to the position on secondment under Section 9(1) of the NACTA Act, 2013.

According to the notification dated September 4, 2026, he will serve as National Coordinator under the standard terms and conditions outlined in JSI-4/85. The notification also stated that the appointment will remain effective until further orders.

The official notification was issued by the Cabinet Secretariat’s Establishment Division in Islamabad and will be published in the next edition of the Gazette of Pakistan, Part-I.

The Establishment Division has instructed the newly appointed National Coordinator to submit his charge assumption report to the concerned section officer. Copies of the notification have also been distributed among several senior government offices, including the President’s Secretariat, Prime Minister’s Office, Cabinet Division and Interior Division.

The notification has additionally been shared with the chief secretaries of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Sindh, along with NACTA officials and relevant federal and provincial accounting authorities.

Major General Faisal Naseer is described as an experienced military officer with considerable experience in counter-terrorism operations. His appointment comes as security operations continue in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In his new role, Major General Faisal Naseer will lead NACTA, the federal body tasked with coordinating and facilitating Pakistan’s efforts against terrorism and extremism.

His appointment places an experienced military officer in the authority’s key coordinating position as counter-terrorism and security operations remain ongoing in parts of the country.
