SIM Card Fraud Exposed in Balochistan

SIM Cards Registered in Balochistan Using Punjab Citizens' Identities

QUETTA : An audit report has revealed significant irregularities regarding the illegal sale and registration of mobile SIM cards in Balochistan.

According to the report, seven telecom franchises in Balochistan activated approximately 2,000 SIM cards using the identity details of citizens living in Punjab.

Despite the fraud being proven, the concerned franchises were only issued show-cause notices.

No criminal cases were registered, nor were any financial penalties imposed on them.

Furthermore, the audit report highlighted that while fines exceeding Rs. 1.88 billion were levied against two major telecom companies alongside show-cause notices, these penalties have yet to be fully recovered.

Expressing deep concern over the lack of decisive action against this organized fake SIM syndicate, the report warned that such lapses pose a serious threat to national security and expose critical vulnerabilities in the regulatory framework.

Audit authorities have directed the relevant agencies to immediately recover the outstanding dues and initiate strict legal proceedings against those responsible to prevent such security breaches in the future.
