Breakthrough in Quetta talks as Balochistan govt assures Judicial Commission into Ziarat tragedy

QUETTA: The significant progress has been reported in late-night negotiations between a Balochistan government delegation and the families of those killed in the Ziarat tragedy, along with members of the protest committee, as authorities assured participants that a judicial commission would be established to investigate the incident.

In this regard, the Balochistan Government Spokesperson for Home Affairs Babar Yousafzai, discussions continued until late at night and resulted in positive initial developments.

He said the government delegation assured the bereaved families that an independent judicial commission would be formed to conduct a transparent inquiry into the Ziarat tragedy.

The government delegation is being led by Provincial Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove and Provincial Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar.

The delegation also includes Senator Manzoor Ahmed Kakar, Bilal Kakar, Quetta Commissioner Shahzaib Khan, and other senior officials.

The talks are focused on addressing the concerns and demands raised by the affected families and political representatives following the tragic incident.

During the negotiations, members of the government delegation expressed their willingness to consider other demands presented by the All Parties representatives and the victims’ families. They reasserted the provincial government’s commitment to resolving the matter through dialogue and mutual understanding.

Meanwhile, the Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove said security operations against terrorism are continuing in various districts of Balochistan.

He confirmed that the provincial government stands firmly with the families of those who lost their lives and pledged that they would not be left alone during this difficult time.

“The government believes in dialogue and peaceful engagement to address public concerns,” Langove said, adding that every possible effort would be made to ensure justice and maintain peace in the province.

Provincial Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar stated that the government’s negotiation committee had been given full authority to hold meaningful discussions and reach practical solutions.

He stressed that restoring peace and stability in Balochistan requires collective efforts from all stakeholders.

“The purpose of visiting the families of the martyrs and the sit-in participants is to demonstrate the government’s seriousness in resolving the issue,” Kakar said.

Representatives from various political parties participating in the negotiations include Rahim Ziaratwal, Nasrullah Zehri, Asghar Khan Achakzai, Agha Hassan, Dr. Ishaq, Abdul Mateen Akhundzada, Dilawar Khan, and other leaders.

The negotiations were continuing at the time of filing this report, with both sides expressing hope that further progress could be achieved through continued dialogue.
