NUSHKI : A routine police patrol came under heavy fire from unidentified assailants on Ainuddin Road in Nushki District on Saturday, leaving two constables martyred on the spot, officials confirmed.
According to police sources, the patrol party was carrying out regular security duty in the local market area when unknown gunmen staged an ambush. The attackers, who had positioned themselves along Ainuddin Road, suddenly opened indiscriminate fire on the officers, taking them by surprise.
The victims were identified as Police Constable Shah Khalid, son of Abdul Khaliq, and Police Constable Muhammad Saleem, son of Regi Khan. Both were residents of the Mengal area. Following the attack, the perpetrators managed to flee the location, taking advantage of the chaos. Security forces and police personnel swiftly cordoned off the entire area and launched a comprehensive search operation to track down the suspects.
The bodies of the martyred policemen were shifted to a nearby hospital for completion of legal formalities, including post-mortem examinations, authorities said.
Police officials have confirmed that an investigation into the incident is actively underway. “Multiple angles are being probed, and all available evidence is being collected to identify and arrest the attackers,” a police spokesperson said.
