According to initial reports, around 150 militants of TTP, also known as Fitna al Khawarij, surrounded the Kach Police Check Post before dawn, triggering an intense gun battle that continued for several hours.
Despite being heavily outnumbered, the police personnel put up fierce resistance and successfully repulsed the assault, preventing the attackers from overrunning the check post or breaching its premises.
Deputy Commissioner Ziarat confirmed that at least nine police officials embraced martyrdom in the attack. He said the martyred personnel belonged to Mangi Police Station as well as other police stations deployed in the area.
The deputy commissioner further stated that five police personnel were reported missing after the attack, prompting security forces to launch a search operation.
Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a clearance operation to trace the fleeing militants. Authorities have not yet released the identities of the martyred personnel, while further investigations into the attack are underway.
